About Us

Search Engine Optimization will surely bring in traffic to a website, but note that S.E.O and S.E.M are just two parts of a marketing mix. It is just a part of online marketing strategy that has to be carefully implemented in a marketing campaign. It is found that many site owners do not get potential customers in spite of high ranks in search engines.

10 SEO Mistakes that can hurt your rankings

Make your self aware of top Big Seo Mistakes

Lack of consistency and maintenance

Our friend Shane often encounters clients, who believe that once you optimize a site, it is done foreve. If you want to be successful, you need to permanently optimize your site, keep an eye on the competition and – changes in the ranking algorithms of search engines.
Concentrating too much on meta tags

A lot of people seem to think SEO is about getting your meta keywords and description correct! In fact, meta tags are becoming a thing of the past. You can create your meta keywords and descriptions but don't except to rank well only because of this.
Targetting the wrong keywords

This is a mistake many people make and what is worse – even experienced SEO experts make it. People choose keywords that in their mind are descriptive of their website but the average users just may not search them. For instance, if you have a relationship site, you might discover that “relationship guide” does not work for you, even though it has the “relationship” keyword, while “dating advice” works like a charm. Choosing the right keywords can make or break your SEO campaign. Even if you are very resourceful, you can't think on your own of all the great keywords but a good keyword suggestion tool, for instance, the Website Keyword Suggestion tool will help you find keywords that are good for your site.

Lack of keywords in the content

Once you focus on your keywords, modify your content and put the keywords wherever it makes sense. It is even better to make them bold or highlight them.
Ignoring the Title tag

Leaving the tag empty is also very common. This is one of the most important places to have a keyword, because not only does it help you in optimization but the text in your tag shows in the search results as your page title.
Ignoring URLs

Many people underestimate how important a good URL is. Dynamic page names are still very frequent and no keywords in the URL is more a rule than an exception. Yes, it is possible to rank high even without keywords in the URL but all being equal, if you have keywords in the URL (the domain itself, or file names, which are part of the URL), this gives you additional advantage over your competitors. Keywords in URLs are more important for MSN and Yahoo! but even with Google their relative weight is high, so there is no excuse for having keywordless URLs.
JavaScript Menus

Using JavaScript for navigation is not bad as long as you understand that search engines do not read JavaScript and build your web pages accordingly. So if you have JavaScript menus you can't do without, you should consider build a sitemap (or putting the links in a noscript tag) so that all your links will be crawlable.
A Flash website without a html alternative

Flash might be attractive but not to search engines and users. If you really insist that your site is Flash-based and you want search engines to love it, provide an html version. Search engines don't like Flash sites for a reason – a spider can't read Flash content and therefore can't index it.
Using only Images for Headings

Many people think that an image looks better than text for headings and menus. Yes, an image can make your site look more distinctive but in terms of SEO images for headings and menus are a big mistake because h2, h2, etc. tags and menu links are important SEO items. If you are afraid that your h1 h2, etc. tags look horrible, try modifying them in a stylesheet or consider this approach: http://www.stopdesign.com/articles/replace_text.
Backlink spamming

It is a common delusion that it more backlinks are ALWAYS better and because of this web masters resort to link farms, forum/newgroup spam etc., which ultimately could lead to getting their site banned. In fact, what you need are quality backlinks

What is robots.txt file

The Secret of robots.txt in the eyes of Search Engines!

Read for creating error free robots.txt

Although the robots.txt file is a very important file if you want to have a good ranking on search engines, many Web sites don't offer this file.

If your Web site doesn't have a robots.txt file yet, read on to learn how to create one. If you already have a robots.txt file, read our tips to make sure that it doesn't contain errors.

http://www.webexperto.com/articulos/archivos/275/robots-txt.png

What is robots.txt?

Robots.txt is a text (not html) file you put on your site to tell search robots which pages you would like them not to visit. Robots.txt is by no means mandatory for search engines but generally search engines obey what they are asked not to do. It is important to clarify that robots.txt is not a way from preventing search engines from crawling your site (i.e. it is not a firewall, or a kind of password protection) and the fact that you put a robots.txt file is something like putting a note “Please, do not enter” on an unlocked door – e.g. you cannot prevent thieves from coming in but the good guys will not open to door and enter. That is why we say that if you have really sen sitive data, it is too naïve to rely on robots.txt to protect it from being indexed and displayed in search results.
Locations of robots.txt

The location of robots.txt is very important. It must be in the main directory because otherwise user agents (search engines) will not be able to find it – they do not search the whole site for a file named robots.txt. Instead, they look first in the main directory (i.e. http://mydomain.com/robots.txt) and if they don't find it there, they simply assume that this site does not have a robots.txt file and therefore they index everything they find along the way. So, if you don't put robots.txt in the right place, do not be surprised that search engines index your whole site.

How do I create a robots.txt file?

So lets get moving. Create a regular text file called "robots.txt", and make sure it's named exactly that. This file must be uploaded to the root accessible directory of your site, not a subdirectory. It is only by following the above two rules will search engines interpret the instructions contained in the file. Deviate from this, and "robots.txt" becomes nothing more than a regular text file, like Cinderella after midnight.

Now that you know what to name your text file and where to upload it, you need to learn what to actually put in it to send commands off to search engines that follow this protocol (formally the "Robots Exclusion Protocol"). The format is simple enough for most intents and purposes: a USERAGENT line to identify the crawler in question followed by one or more DISALLOW: lines to disallow it from crawling certain parts of your site.

1. Here's a basic "robots.txt":

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

With the above declared, all robots (indicated by "*") are instructed to not index any of your pages (indicated by "/"). Most likely not what you want, but you get the idea.

2. Google's Image bot:

Lets get a little more discriminatory now. While every webmaster loves Google, you may not want Google's Image bot crawling your site's images and making them searchable online, if just to save bandwidth. The below declaration will do the trick:

User-agent: Googlebot-Image
Disallow: /

3. Disallows all Search Engines

The following disallows all search engines and robots from crawling select directories and pages:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /cgi-bin/
Disallow: /privatedir/
Disallow: /tutorials/blank.htm

4. Target multiple robots in robots.txt.

You can conditionally target multiple robots in "robots.txt." Take a look at the below:

User-agent: * Disallow: / User-agent: Googlebot Disallow: /cgi-bin/ Disallow: /privatedir/

This is interesting - here we declare that crawlers in general should not crawl any parts of our site, EXCEPT for Google, which is allowed to crawl the entire site apart from /cgi-bin/ and /privatedir/. So the rules of specificity apply, not inheritance.

5. Where can I find user agent names?

You can find user agent names in your log files by checking for requests to robots.txt. Most often, all search engine spiders should be given the same rights. in that case, use "User-agent: "*" as mentioned above.

Basic tips and tricks

1. How to disallow all spiders to index any file

If you don't want search engines to index any file of your Web site, use the following:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

2. How to allow all search engine spiders to index all files

Use the following content for your robots.txt file if you want to allow all search engine spiders to index all files of your Web site:

User-agent: *
Disallow:

3. Where to find more complex examples.

You can find such examples with the following websites:

http://www.cnn.com/robots.txt
http://www.nytimes.com/robots.txt
http://www.spiegel.com/robots.txt
http://www.ebay.com/robots.txt

Your Web site must deal with a proper robots.txt file, if you want to have good rankings across all the search engines. Only if search engines know what to do with your pages, they can give you a good ranking though :).

Search Engine Friendly Sitemaps

Sitemaps and Why they are much Essential to our sites?

Importance of Search Engine Friendly Sitemaps

Most webmasters often see site maps as redundant and thus, by extension, useless. Though this may be true of you build just so that you have one, a sitemap is used for numerous purposes that are essential for a successful website. Thus the purpose of this writing: Highlighting of the importance of a sitemap, and how it can be constructed to meet your specific needs.

http://www.trafficpros2.com/seo-1.gif

1. Purposes of navigation

Like any place in the world, people need maps for even the smallest sites out there today- websites especially. And the sitemap is an answer to that need: if a user ever can't find a page they had seen before, or get lost in your site (and your search function proves ineffective), then the sitemap acts as their guide. It provides a convenient, effective and highly efficient (thus conveying ease of use) method with which to surf your website.

2. How To Convey Site Theme

Most visitors want the "big picture" of a site in the first few seconds they are there. And that is where your sitemap comes in: A quick ten second glance with tell most visitors quickly what they want to know about your site, and if they want to stay there or not. If you save them time, the visitors will be highly appreciative. After all, if they don't find what they want quickly, they will find a site that will cater to them- and give them what they want.

3. Optimization of Site - In Search Engines and Design Purposes

A full sitemap contains a link to every page in your website- all on one single page. This makes it optimal for search engine web crawlers, which are what rank your site on their search engine. A site map allows almost daily updates to crawlers for additions to your site, thus increasing exposure to searchers. Not a page is missed! Besides being very convenient for users, the site map is thus placed on the front page of your website- so that every link is followed by search engine web crawlers, and categorized and accounted for in your placement on the search list.

4. Relevance to Organization

A quick overview is available to a site designer/content writer of a website with a full site map. Everything is organized, and sorted with relevance to a specific topic (and especially your overall theme). A quick glance at the sitemap will remind you of what you have finished, and what still needs to be done to improve your site.Sitemaps maps must be implemented for sites of the appropriate (large) size since they require a lot of work/maintenance. How else will your site get big? With the design in mind, plans in motion, and a site map in the works, one is almost assure success.

Link Building | Build Reciprocal Links

How to build Reciprocal Links

One common link-building tip calls for trading links with companies offering information or products compatible or synergistic to your own. These should not be Web sites directly competitive with your own, but instead be complementary. Sounds simple enough, right? But, the question then arises: "Where do I start?"

For the well informed, there's a gold mine of strategic linking and partnering opportunities out there. You just have to know where to look. There are multiple ways you can locate companies who are well suited to send you targeted traffic while at the same time improving your link popularity and rankings:

http://www.seopositions.net/blog/link-building.jpg

1. Check Your Competitors Link

Take advantage of free services like Link Popularity Check to find all the sites that link to your competitors. Click the Details link to view the list. If your product or service is stronger than your competitor, then consider visiting some of these sites and approaching them in regard to linking to you as well, or as a replacement to your competitor depending on the situation. These sites have already demonstrated an interest in linking to Web sites similar to your own, so many will be ideal candidates.

2. Search Catalogs for complementary Sites

Major category-based engines like Yahoo!, Looksmart, and Open Directory divide their content into topics. You can often find a neatly organized list of sites that are complementary to your own by browsing these categories. Visit the sites you find and contact them in regard to adding a link to your site, or to specific content you offer.

3. Link Check complementary Sites

If you have strong competitors, or simply prefer to not go head to head with your competitors, link check complementary sites! A major site that is complementary, but not competitive to your own may offer an array of links that are also complementary. Find Websites that cater to the same audience you do, but do not sell the exact same things.

In addition, many engines such as Google calculate link reputation for all sites that link to you. Therefore, linking sites having a greater popularity or link reputation will affect your own link reputation to a much greater degree. Once you have a decent link reputation, you'll find it to be much easier to obtain top rankings when you go to optimize your content.

When you do request a link trade

* Be sure you have developed genuine content on your Web site of interest to the trading partner. Take the time to point out specific articles that would be of interest to THEIR visitors. Tell them they can host the article on their Web site if they'll simply credit you as the source and add a link to your site. Do all the work for them. E-mail them the page with a discrete credit at the bottom. Be sure the link to your site contains your important keywords to bolster your rankings on those keywords.

* Explain the advantages to the potential link partner and the advantages your site has to their visitors. They must clearly understand how linking to you benefits them.

* If you plan to link back to them as an enticement, consider telling them where the link will be placed, or set the link up in advance with the stipulation that you'll be glad to leave it there if they'll be kind enough to link back to you.

* Take the time to look over their site and then suggest where a link to you might be appropriate. Consider supplying example text to make this easy for them. Look for pages with relatively few outgoing links. Your link reputation, at least on Google, will be reduced in relation to the number of other links on the referring page.

* Most importantly, personalize your e-mails! You must distinguish yourself from all the spam most Web site owners are swamped with daily. If the link is particularly important to you, call them personally on the phone, write them a letter, or send a fax to show them you're serious.

Anytime you do achieve a link to your site, consider submitting the domain or the page the link resides on to ensure that the search engine sees it and updates your link popularity score. If the page with your link is never indexed, then your link popularity score will never improve. Of course, links also benefit you through increased traffic, so link popularity and improved rankings are not the only benefits you'll receive.

"The Secret To SEO Success"

Most people are not successful regarding search engine optimization because of one simple reason, which is; they do not understand search engine optimization.

So today, I will tell you the secret to search engine optimization success.

If you do not understand and respect this fact, you will never be successful at search engine optimization.

When I say successful, I mean someone who can consistently achieve and maintain at least a top 20 search engine ranking for competitive keywords or keyword phrases.

http://thelostjacket.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/socialmedia.jpg

I am not talking about rarely used keywords and/or keywords phrases that no one is interested in finding or searching for on a regular bases.

Frankly, almost anyone with a few SEO tips can rank well for non-competitive keywords and/or keyword phrases especially in small niche markets. However, SEO tips along will not help you very much when you are attempting to rank high for competitive keywords.

Thus, to achieve consistent success at search engine optimization, you must first learn everything you can about search engines.

You must understand intimately all the components of search engines and how these components work individually and collectively. Moreover, you must understand how search engines relate and react to websites.

This cannot be learned overnight, you will not learn this information by reading blogs, newsletters, participating in forums and/or other commonly known and used methods of acquiring basic knowledge about SEO.

The way that you learn about search engines is through finding quality information on the Internet and/or by reading books on the subject of search engines.

Don't get me wrong, there is valuable information that you can obtain using methods such as blogs, newsletters and forums; but as I have said many times, to learn SEO you must acquire and read information that is provided in one central source that provides an overall viewpoint of the subject in a comprehensive and well written manner that is easy to read, understand and apply. This cannot be done with most methods except with books or information derived from book material in most cases.

With a well-rounded understanding of search engines, you will be equipped with a key essential for success at search engine optimization. However, you will need more than a strong knowledge concerning search engines to be successful at search engine optimization.

You must continue to add to your foundation of knowledge in relation to SEO.

Do not stop with an in-depth understanding of search engines and their components, you must take this knowledge and use it to understand how websites work structurally in relation to search engines and how using search engine optimization in unison with an understanding of search engines and websites will effect search engine rankings for keywords and keyword phrases.

Moreover, you must understand the concept of niche markets and how niche markets work in relation to SEO and search engines. Also, you must understand the importance of keywords and keyword research in your application and understanding of search engine optimization. This information along with related information will help you build an overall foundation that will serve you well as you learn and apply the principles of search engine optimization in your SEO efforts.

Now do not be overwhelmed with what I have written in this article.

Sometimes people think that a few SEO tips will be the only thing that is needed to generate a ton of traffic from search engines.

Sadly, this is not true.

Like most subjects or fields of interest, search engine optimization SEO has a vast amount of information and components that will affect your level of success. The better you are able to understand SEO and how all the related components such as search engines, websites and niche markets operate individually and collectively, the better your likelihood for success.

Remember, most people are not willing to take the time or put forth the effort needed to be successful at search engine optimization. So take advantage of the opportunity.

Put in the time and effort needed to learn all you can about search engine optimization. As you learn more in relation to SEO, you will began to see a noticeable improvement in your search engine rankings and better yet, you will begin to understand why your rankings are improving because you will understand search engine optimization at an entirely different level and viewpoint.

Start your climb up the search engine rankings. Take the time and put forth the effort to establish a solid foundation regarding search engine optimization.

"Title Tag"

A title tag is one of the tags utilized with HTML, which is short for Hypertext Markup Language. This is the most common language used for web page development.

For this article, I will not go into the discussion of HTML because it is a subject that has many well-written books on the subject along with having entire courses provided for it in colleges and technical schools.
In relation to search engine optimization, I will say that to be able to be proficient with SEO, you must understand and use HTML because the web pages that you will create or work with in relation to search engine optimization contain HTML code. There is no getting around this fact. If you want to learn and use SEO, you must learn at least on a basic level HTML.

http://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/4705311/A440-AAF4806AA016PST-main_Full.jpg

I will provide posts regarding HTML in the future to address this very very important aspect in relation to SEO; but for this post, we will focus our discussion on the title tag.

The title tag contains the title for a web page. The title tag is constructed as displayed in the example below:

As shown in the example, the title contained in the title tag is “The Title”. The manner in which the title tag is constructed and displayed is based on HTML.

You can place in the title tag almost any text you wish to be the title of the web page. However, in relation to search engine optimization, the title tag is most effective when the title tag includes the keywords and/or keyword phrases for the web page and these same keywords and/or keyword phrase are contained within the text on the web page.

Keywords and/or keyword phrases are the words that the web page content is centered around throughout the web page. The keyword and/or keyword phrases are generally used throughout the web page in a natural reading nature but are prominent in their appearance and use.

The reason why the title tag is important in relation to search engine optimization is because the title tag is important to search engines. The title tag is a very important part of the criteria used by all search engines in determining the search engine ranking for web pages in their databases regarding specific keywords and keyword phrases.

Therefore, if you want to rank well for a certain keyword or keyword phrase on a web page, one of the main optimization tasks you will want to do for the web page is to place the keywords or keyword phrases in the title tag.

However, remember what I said earlier about using the keywords or keyword phrases prominently throughout the web page content because search engines through their algorithms determine what is important on a web page by analyzing the title tag and determining if what is placed in the title tag is an important aspect of the content contained on the web page.

Now by no means is this all that is considered by search engines and their algorithms in determining how web pages will be ranked in their search engine results.

There is much more involved with how a web page ranks for keywords or keyword phrases. The title tag is just one aspect. Yes, an important aspect; but still only one aspect.

Used only by itself, you will most likely not rank well using just the title tag in your optimization efforts unless you are trying to rank for a non competitive keyword or keyword phrase that no one is actually searching for on a regular bases.

If you are optimizing a web page, the title tag should be one aspect of your optimization work. There is much more to be done to successfully rank well for keywords and/or keyword phrases that people actually take the time to search for at search engines.

So use the title tag in all your SEO efforts; but understand why the title tag is important. There is much more to learn about the title tag. This post is an introduction to this optimization task. Learn as much as you can about the title tag and how search engines view and analyze the title tag.
